What an amazing day of music! Six members of the Cambridge High School band were selected to participate in the Bradley University Honor Band today. Students spent the morning rehearsing and then went into break out sessions after lunch. Evan Akers was part of the percussion ensemble, Brodin Palmer, Austin Woodbury and Nicole Legate were part of the Groove Project (a large ensemble that learned to play New Orleans style jazz by ear) and Carly Dale and Brooke McCoy attended a session on music writing. After another rehearsal in the afternoon, the concert band made up of students from seventeen schools across central Illinois performed their music for their audience. They sounded fantastic!

Congratulations to those in the class of 2026 who were inducted the National Technical Honors Society today! Students attended a program featuring two speakers who were honored with NTHS Awards- Brockton Reed (Outstanding Alumni Spotlight) and Becky Blackert (Outstanding Community Business Spotlight)!

A festival like this does not happen without the help of my fellow directors and my Cambridge parents! Yesterday, we hosted the junior high Lincoln Trail Band Festival. Joy Boostrom did an awesome job with our kids! Thanks to the directors that brought extra equipment for all of our percussionists! Thank you, Madeline and Karol, for organizing all the percussionists and organizing the extra equipment. Thank you to the parents and students that were able to help serve the meal this evening! The cherry on top was getting to perform music with my fellow directors! Have a great end to your school year!
