Be sure to take a look at the trees on the boulevard during the holiday season. Students from elementary, JH, and HS volunteered to help decorate the trees for the Village of Cambridge. Tonight would be a great night to take a look at the Christmas on the Square and enjoy many of the events they have planned.
While you're at Christmas on the Square tonight, be sure to stop by and check out the beautifully decorated Christmas trees created by the students of District 227. They did an amazing job!

4th graders have been working on projects in both science and social studies. In science, students have been studying inventors and inventions, while in social studies, they have completed their state projects!
1st graders performed their Thanksgiving play this morning! They did such a great job!
Mr. Hamerlinck's 2nd grade class earned a party in art class. They were able to create their own designs on Lite-Brites.

The Christmas season is upon us and we are thrilled to continue with our Caring Hearts program again this year. Caring Hearts is a program that provides assistance to families in our school district with Christmas gifts. We are very excited to continue our positive pride program, *Viking of the Week! This program is spearheaded by our support staff and specials teachers. They interact and see students in other scenarios outside of the classroom. Our staff decided they would like to have a positive program of their own to allow the quiet heroes of our school to “shine!” They will collect names all week of students who they think deserve special recognition for being positive role models. On the last day of that week, out of the names collected, 2 students in K-2 and 3-5 will be randomly chosen to be the “Viking of the Week.”
How do you become the Viking of the Week? The following are the guidelines for being chosen:
*Be a Leader, by demonstrating Leadership qualities.
*Be a Self Directed Learner.
*Being a Hard Worker.
*Being a Good Friend.
*Being a Problem Solver.
*Having great School Spirit.

Our 2nd graders went to Wethersfield Elementary today to visit their pen pals.
Congratulations to Scarlett, a 2nd grader, for winning the coloring contest sponsored by WQAD for McManus Orthodontics! The school will receive an Amazon gift card, and Scarlett will have the opportunity to decide how we use it.
This week, fifth graders hosted their pumpkin raffle. The funds raised will support their upcoming trip to BizTown in December for Junior Achievement.
3rd graders conducted their ballooning spiders project today. Parachute tests were timed to determine how long it took their spiders to fall. Great job!
