The Cambridge CUSD #227 Board of Education is seeking applications from district residents interested in serving as a member of the Board of Education to fill a vacancy created by the resignation of Dianne Jeffries. This appointment will fill the current vacancy on the Board until the next consolidated election. Qualifications:
To be eligible to serve, applicants must:
Be a United States citizen.
Be at least 18 years of age.
Be a registered voter.
Have resided in Cambridge CUSD 227 for at least one year immediately preceding the appointment.
Not be a child sex offender as defined by Illinois law.
Not hold incompatible public offices.
Not have a prohibited interest in any contract with the District.
Not hold certain types of prohibited State or federal employment.
Meet all qualifications based upon the distribution of population among congressional townships in the district. This position is restricted to a resident of Cambridge Township 1 or 2.
Responsibilities:
Board members help establish policies, approve budgets, and support the district’s mission to provide a high-quality education for all students. Regular board meetings are typically held once per month with occasional special meetings as needed.
Application Process:
Interested individuals should submit a letter of interest and resume addressing their background, qualifications, and reasons for seeking the position.
The board will appoint a new member within 60 days. Applications must be received by no later than 4:00 pm on Wednesday, January 14, 2026.
